About Us

Who We Are

We are Scott (Hyphen) and Melissa (Miss or Ms., supposedly): two native Oregonians who took up serious running about three years ago (when the kids starting forcing us to find alone time).  And, yes, we have a long complicated hyphenated last name.

What We Do

We run.  A lot.  Melissa more than Scott.  Also, we nag our kids  A lot.  Again...Melissa more than Scott. She even nags Scott every once and a while for good measure. We also work for pay so we can afford race entry fees and expensive running shoes. Scott works more than Melissa (just a little, though) because it's all about juggling schedules.  Much of what we do is related to keeping up with the busy lives of our two kids (7 & 9 years-old) and all their various activities: gymnastics, tennis, swimming, and boy/girl scouts....and even running for our oldest!  Can you tell we're excited about that?

Why We Started a Blog

Mostly because we figured people were sick of hearing about our running adventures on Facebook.  Beyond that, we've both found that the longer we run, the more we start thinking about things to talk about.  Since we talk to each other all the time, we started thinking maybe talking to (at) other people would be helpful.

We also read and listen to a lot of other runners via their blogs and podcasts.  A lot of what they say about running is true.  It's a mental challenge as much as a physical one.  That's probably why runners want to "talk shop" all the time.
